Volunteer Opportunities:
On the Cornell Campus
Student Activities Office
Whether you are interested in human or veterinary medicine investigate student organizations in the Cornell community. There are opportunities to work with organizations
and services on campus of direct interest to health careers students such as those
listed below. This is not, however, a comprehensive list.
Gannett Health Services
Pre-Medical Community Mentorship Program
The Pre-Medical Community Mentorship Program gives selected Cornell students
the opportunity to observe up close some of the realities of the medical profession.
Spending two half days shadowing a Tompkins County physician, students are connected
with a mentor who can answer questions about opportunites in the diverse field
of medicine and preparation for a medical career. This program is offered for
Cornell undergraduates seriously considering a career in medicine. Call 607/255-4782
or find out more information about theĀ Mentorship Program.
The SAFETY ZONE
The SAFETY ZONE is a volunteer group within Gannett Health Services. Members
of the ZONE provide sexual health information, sexual health supplies, resources,
and service referrals to other students and campus organizations through "street
outreach." ZONE requires a two semester commitment from students. The group
meets weekly with professional health promotions staff members. Call 607/255-4782
or find more information about the ZONE.
