Program Changes

We are thrilled to share some exciting news with you! Cornell Career Services has revamped and modernized the Extern and FRESH Programs in an effort to create one cohesive and accessible program. With the help of bench-marking statistics, student and staff focus groups, and data collected from several years’ worth of sponsor evaluations, we have created what we hope to be an inclusive program that promotes organic relationships and cultivates diverse interests: the Alumni Connections Program*.

Notable New Features

  • ACP will be open year-round (alumni will need to identify their yearly availability if they can).
  • Students will self-select alumni based on career interest, affiliation, or industry.
  • Alumni will be able to indicate the number of students they are willing to meet with throughout the year (after quota is met, profile will be marked as “filled." Alumni are able to edit this quota throughout the year as needed).
  • Graduate students are welcome to apply (alumni can indicate if they are interested in meeting with graduate students).

We hope you will continue to support this career exploration program as we strive to provide relevant and engaging programs for our students.

*Feedback from current students helped us shape the new title of this program. Student logic dictated that we need to include “alumni” and “connections” in the title so that it is easily understood what the opportunity includes: alumni connections. “Program” was suggested to indicate that there is a start and end date to the opportunity; something more nebulous might prevent student participation.
