Job-Shadowing Programs
Cornell Career Services sponsors a variety of programs that provide alumni, parents,
and other professionals an opportunity to offer hands-on experience to current
students interested in exploring different career fields. Alumni often tell us
that participation in these programs is one of their most rewarding volunteer
experiences.
Cornell Extern ProgramIntroduce a sophomore, junior, or senior to the world of work through an extern (job-shadowing) visit during Winter Break (January 4—23, 2010). No compensation is involved, and students are responsible for their own transportation and accommodations. For more details on the program and volunteering as a sponsor, visit the Cornell Extern Program page. Cornell FRESH ProgramHost a freshman at your workplace for one to two days during Spring Break (March 20—27, 2010). Visits can extend longer at the sponsor's request. Sponsor registration begins in December. For more details on the program and volunteering as a sponsor, visit the FRESH Program page. Cornell Days
Host a group of students at your workplace during school breaks. For more information, contact Demetra Dentes '70, dd21@cornell.edu. ILR WISP Program
The ILR Winter Intersession Program is designed to expose ILR students to a wide variety of careers available in
ILR-related fields. Students spend a portion of their winter break volunteering
their services on a project designed by the sponsoring employer.
ILR FEX Program
The ILR Freshman Extern Program provides ILR alumni and others interested in interacting with current ILR students an opportunity to sponsor a first-year student for a day of observation during winter break. |
