Career and Alumni Connections
P C C W
PCCW Alumnae—Student EventsThe President's Council of Cornell Women (PCCW) consists of approximately 300
Cornell alumnae who are appointed by the President of the University. Members
have achieved a high level of success in their career or avocational activities,
and have a commitment to strengthening the experience of women affiliated with
Cornell as well as to involving more alumnae in Cornell activities.
Each spring, PCCW offers an on-campus forum for students to
meet members and to discuss career-related issues and life
after Cornell. The goal is to introduce a diverse group of undergraduates to the
benefits
of meeting
Cornell alumnae in a variety of career fields (not to find job opportunities!).
The following event will be co-sponsored by Cornell Career Services: PCCW Alumnae—Student Luncheon Saturday, March 7, 12:00—2:00 pm
Expect lively discussions with groups of alumnae and other students over lunch and dessert, on topics such as balancing time for work and family, conducting a job search in a new city, when/if to attend graduate school, taking a "gap year," negotiating salaries, the cost of living and managing expenses, and the myths and realities of the "glass ceiling" and the "Mommy Track." Space is limited to approximately 100 students, so register early! Online registrations will be accepted through March 2, 2009. Priority will be given to students who
have not yet participated in a PCCW luncheon or Senior-Junior Women's event. Previous
participants will be accepted on a space-available basis.
Students confirmed to
attend the luncheon will receive an email message shortly before the event.
That email will include further details, including location and tips on preparing
for the discussion. Dress is business casual.
