Open Round Procedures

Read and understand the Extern Program and Application Components as outlined on the Extern Program web pages and handouts.

The Extern Program Open Round application procedure differs by student status. Follow the link below for the requirements and deadlines for you.

A) Unmatched: Students who applied Round 1 or Round 2 and were not placed with an externship.

B) Matched: Students who applied Round 1 or Round 2 who wish to apply for a second externship (and the first match externship is 3 days or less in length).

C) New Applicants: Students who did not apply during Round 1 or Round 2, but want to do a winter break externship.

IMPORTANT: To avoid server delays or freezing due to volume overload on November 16, be sure to complete your Step 2 essays at least 4 hours prior to the 7:00 am deadline! There will be no extensions due to server accessibility problems.
