Luce Scholars Program Application Procedure

Important Dates

September 30	Application due to the Fellowship Coordinator. See below for details.
October TBA	Cornell endorsement committee reviews applications and selects up to three applicants to be endorsed to the foundation.
October 28	FINAL SUBMISSION of endorsed applicants' materials to the Fellowship Coordinator.
November 2	Foundation deadline for receipt of application material.
Late Fall	First round of interviews (all nominees)
February 2010	Selection of 45 finalists for second round of interviews and selection of Luce Scholars
May 2010	Cornell Fellowships Reception for all endorsed applicants.

Application Materials

Applications are available from the Fellowship Coordinator, 103 Barnes Hall. Call 607/255-6931 to schedule an appointment.

APPLICATION MATERIALS DUE to Fellowship Coordinator (September 30)

The Fellowship Coordinator will forward your materials to the Cornell Endorsement Committee. Please make sure that you read the fine print on the application forms and that you have filled in all the blanks as you would for the final submission. Materials should be in polished form, collated and paper-clipped (not stapled) for easy distribution to committee members. All materials must arrive at 103 Barnes Hall by 2:00 pm, September 30, 2009. 

Submit to the Fellowship Coordinator:

• Biographic Information Form
• Personal Statement
• College transcript(s) from each institution attended
• Address Information Card
• Four letters of recommendation
  

A range of academic, professional, and personal references. Choose people who know you well and who can attest to your academic qualifications, abilities and leadership in your chosen career, and personal qualities such as flexibility, tact, adaptability, sensitivity, and personal initiative. Letters are due to the Fellowship Coordinator by 2:00 pm, September 30.

FINAL SUBMISSION to the Fellowships Coordinator (October 28)      

Endorsement

If you are endorsed, it is your responsibility to submit the final version of all application materials by 2:00 pm, October 28, to the Fellowship Coordinator, who will forward them to the Luce Foundation.

A complete application consists of:

• Biographic Information Form
• Personal Statement
• College transcript(s) from each institution attended
• Address Information Card
• Two recent passport-size photographs (black and white preferred) with name printed on the back of both photos
  
• Four letters of recommendation
