Application Materials

APPLICATION MATERIALS DUE to the Fellowship Coordinator (August 31, 2009)

The application form is available from the Association of Commonwealth Universities. You must make an appointment with the Fellowship Coordinator to register your intent to apply through Cornell. Make sure that you read the fine print on the application forms and that you have filled in all the blanks as you would for the final submission. Materials should be in polished form, collated and paper-clipped (not stapled) for easy distribution to committee members. The Fellowship Coordinator will forward your application materials to the Cornell Endorsement Committee. All materials must arrive to 103 Barnes Hall by noon on August 31, 2009.

Submit to the Fellowship Coordinator:

  • Application form
  • Personal statement
  • Proposed program of study
  • Official transcript(s) of all college work
  • Four letters of recommendation

Letters are a crucial component of your application. Give your recommenders fair warning of the August deadline, make sure they understand the selection criteria sought by the Marshall committee, and provide them with enough information about your candidacy to write a detailed, evaluative letter.

All letters are due to the Fellowship Coordinator by noon on August 31.  You may contact the Fellowship Program Associate (607/255-6931) to see if letters have arrived. Recommenders should NOT send a copy of their letters to the Marshall committee. If you are endorsed by Cornell, your final application and letters will be forwarded by Cornell on your behalf.
