Rhodes Scholarship Application ProcedureImportant Dates
Application Materials
APPLICATION MATERIALS DUE to the Fellowship Coordinator (August 31, 2009) The application form is available from the Rhodes Scholarship Trust. (You may download and use the 2008 application form from the Rhodes Web site for the preliminary application that is submitted to the Cornell Endorsement Committee.) Note that you must make an appointment with the Fellowship Coordinator to register your intent to apply through Cornell. Make sure that you read the fine print on the application forms and that you have filled in all the blanks as you would for the final submission. Materials should be in polished form, collated and paper-clipped (not stapled) for easy distribution to committee members. The Fellowship Coordinator will forward your application materials to the Cornell Endorsement Committee. All materials must arrive at 103 Barnes Hall by noon on August 31, 2009. Submit to the Fellowship Coordinator:
Letters are a crucial component of a student's application. While the application requests five to eight letters, it is strongly suggested that you submit eight letters. Give your recommenders fair warning of the late August deadline, make sure they understand the selection criteria sought by the Rhodes committee, and provide them with enough information about your candidacy to write a detailed, evaluative letter. All letters are due to the Fellowship Coordinator by noon on August . You may contact the Fellowship Program Associate (607/255-6931) to see if letters have arrived. Do NOT have your recommenders use the Rhodes form for the on-campus process. Recommenders should not send a copy of their letter to the DISTRICT committee until after you have been endorsed by Cornell and you have had your feedback conference with the Fellowship Coordinator. |
