Registering for On-Campus Recruiting

We manage our on-campus recruiting through the Cornell CareerNet system. Cornell CareerNet gives you 24-hour, online access to job postings and recruiting information. In order to use Cornell CareerNet you'll need to complete a "Student Profile," following the specific directions below.

Instructions for Registering with Cornell CareerNet
  • Click on the Cornell CareerNet login at the right side of this page, or at the bottom of the CCS homepage.
  • Scroll down and click on the “On-Campus Recruiting Policy” link.
  • After reading the policy, return to the Cornell CareerNet login page.
  • Your username is your Cornell email address, and your password is initially set at random. Enter your email address and then click on "Forgot your password?" to receive an email message with your password.
  • Return to the login page and enter your username and password; be sure to re-set your password after logging in.

You will now be prompted to complete a “Student Profile” by filling in information to pre-set questions. It is important to complete all the information accurately. (Note: This profile can not be viewed by employers.)

Using the Cornell CareerNet System
  • Once you have registered you can upload different versions of your resume by using the “Documents” link on the Cornell CareerNet main menu.
  • You can view the listed job descriptions of organizations that will be visiting campus and submit your resume and cover letter to those you are interested in and for which you meet the qualifications.
  • You can also view a listing of presentations/info sessions that are being held by employers by conducting a search in the “Calendar” link on the Cornell CareerNet menu.
  • You can access and keep track of your status by reviewing the "Applications" section located in the Cornell CareerNet system. This segment will provide you with a listing of the organizations you have applied to, and your status for each position. Be sure to look in your "Past Applications" area to find applications with deadlines that have already passed.
Tips and Hints
  • Remember that your login information is case-sensitive.
  • If the Cornell server goes down you can access the Cornell CareerNet system by going to http://cornell.erecruiting.com/er/security/login.jsp.
  • Check the system regularly to see if you have been chosen as a preselect or alternate. Employers do not always notify students of their status.
  • Make sure to read the employer description and directions carefully, as many times they direct you to complete an on-line application or other form(s) to be submitted via the employer site or on Cornell CareerNet system.
  • If you have any questions regarding on-campus recruiting you should contact a career services office for assistance.
How to Prepare an Unofficial Transcript
  • Go to jft.cornell.edu and log in the Just the Facts.
  • On the left-hand panel, under Academic History, click "Grades."
  • Select a semester and click "Continue." You will see your grade summary for that semester.
  • Click on "Printer Friendly Page" at the bottom right corner of the page.
  • Highlight just the top table (not including the header); copy and paste it into a Word document with a title that includes your name.
  • Repeat steps 3—5 for all semesters, pasting each into your document; reformat as necessary. Note: Make sure you check over the document carefully, as you may need to reformat the information to fit on the page properly.
  • Follow the prompts in the "Documents...your other documents" feature to upload, and then submit as instructed. Note: If you have not uploaded your unofficial transcript before appling to a job posting you will not get the prompt to upload your transcript.
  • Note: You absolutely MUST NOT alter your grades. Many employers will ask you for an official transcript later. Falsifying any information you submit for on-campus recruiting is grounds for disqualification from access to Cornell University services, including on-campus recruiting. Additionally, companies have called us to let us know that offers were rescinded because of false documentation.
