Jobs and Internships
Summer Opportunities

General Information

Job-search techniques for summer jobs are the same as those for permanent jobs; you'll find helpful information about conducting a thorough job search as well as writing resumes and cover letters in this site.

A good starting point from which to identify a summer job or internship is through CornellTRAK's Student Jobs/Internships listing. All jobs and internships that we are aware of are posted at this location. Summer opportunities can be posted at any time during the year, and it's not unusual to see high-quality summer internships posted as early as October.

A number of competitive summer internships have application deadlines in November, December, and January. It's good practice to check these listings weekly during the fall semester and several times a week during the spring semester. The job lists are updated daily, with the newest postings appearing at the top of the list for your selected region/field.

You may also want to check out other internship resources on the Library References and Jobs and Internships Resources pages. An additional excellent resource is the database of information about summer experiences provided by other students. (You'll need your student ID number to gain access.) You just might find contacts for a great opportunity in a location that suits you.

In addition, there are many resources for entry-level positions; you should use the employer information listed through any resource to make inquiries about possible summer opportunities, and also for informational interviewing and career exploration possibilities. For additional employer resources refer to the Careers after Cornell.
