Taking Time for Doing ResearchI am currently in medical school, but spent a gap year as a research technician
in the Department of Medical and Molecular Parasitology at a large medical center.
The decision to take a year off was not an easy one. I initially felt a bit uncomfortable
about it, however it was a very positive experience.
In fact, at every med school interview I had it was a good point of discussion, and they all seemed to think it was a good idea to take a year off. I really needed a break from school, and working in a lab allowed me to take this break while still being involved in academic science. |
