CU Application Process

Important Dates

Application due to the Fellowship Coordinator. See below for details.
Late October-Early     November     
An official campus endorsement committee reviews applications and selects up to two applicants to be endorsed to the foundation. Applicants are notified of endorsement decisions by the fellowship coordinator.
November 9
FINAL SUBMISSION of endorsed applicants' materials to the Fellowship Coordinator.
November 16
Foundation's deadline for receipt of applicants' materials.
December 8, 2017
Interviews of Cornell's endorsed applicants in Philadelphia; selection announced shortly thereafter.

Application Process

Students’ applications must be processed and endorsed through the CCS fellowships office to be eligible for the competition at the regional and/or national level. Endorsement decisions are final and not subject to appeal.

Nominee information forms will be available at the Fellowships office in 103 Barnes. Other material to be submitted (see below) does not involve forms.

APPLICATION MATERIALS DUE to Fellowship Coordinator on October 13, 2017.

The Fellowship Coordinator will forward your application materials to the Cornell Endorsement Committee. Make sure that you submit your materials as you would for the final submission.

Submit to the Fellowship Coordinator, 103 Barnes Hall:

  • Waivers and memoranda of understanding (available from Cornell fellowships office)
  • Nominee Information Form
  • Essay summarizing academic interests and plans
  • Official college transcript(s) from each institution attended; the Fellowship Coordinator does not request transcripts on your behalf
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Three letters of recommendation from faculty who know you well, both academically and personally

Endorsement

Up to two candidates are endorsed by the campus committee.

The campus committee may offer nominees advice on how to improve their materials for final submission. Nominees are responsible for submitting the final version of their materials by November 9 to the Fellowship Coordinator, who will forward them to the Foundation.

A complete application consists of:

  • Nominee Information Form
  • Essay
  • College transcript(s) from each institution attended
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Grade Distribution Analysis (to be submitted by Fellowship Coordinator)
  • Letter of Institutional Endorsement (to be submitted by Fellowship Coordinator)
