The Interfolio Credentials Service works with Cornell Career Services to serve our students, alumni, and faculty. This timely, fee-based service provides a means whereby letters of recommendation and other important documents are stored and sent to graduate and professional schools or employers upon request. It is particularly useful for students who anticipate needing reference materials at some point in the future.
Information for Current Students
A credentials file is a repository for materials you may want or need to store now for use in a future job search. These include letters of recommendation from someone who knows you well now, certifications (teaching, for example), transcripts for courses taken at other institutions or continuing education credits, or a writing sample or publication. Interfolio allows you to send all of your chosen documents in one very professional-looking package. Your materials are sent within one business day of your request. To find out more, go to the Interfolio website.
Information for Faculty and Other Letter Writers
Cornell partners with Interfolio to manage credential services. Student files can be established to maintain confidential letters of recommendation, transcripts, and other appropriate materials. Contents of the files can be sent later in support of applications for employment or admission to graduate or professional school.
Faculty members may submit letters of recommendation electronically or by hard copy. Interfolio does not accept documents via e-mail, but it is fast and safe to upload a file to the system through a "writer's account." If you prefer not to set up a free writer's account, you can still mail or fax letters to Interfolio. Additional information is available for faculty members and others who are writing these letters.
