Deciding What You Want To Do 

Most people will change careers several times during their work lives, so don't worry if you aren't sure now what you want to do after Cornell. Your goal is to identify career fields that relate to and make the best use of your interests, values, and strengths—particularly in your first career step after Cornell.

Knowing your abilities and understanding what is important to you in a work setting and career are crucial in making decisions about the future. Cornell Career Services has career advisors and career counselors who can help you gain career direction. Counselors work with students on topics such as:

  • choosing, changing, or questioning a major
  • defining a career direction
  • understanding interests, values, or abilities
  • overcoming academic problems
  • learning decision-making skills
