Gaining Experience

Gaining experience is an important step in the process of exploring your career options. It involves investigating specific career fields to learn what a position actually entails and developing job-related skills through internships, summer jobs, or volunteer positions.

Do some research in the career library, talk to people about what they do, and get involved through employment, student activities, or volunteerism. CCS provides many services and programs that can help with this process.

Sometimes it can be as helpful through this experience to find out what you don't like to do as to learn what you think you would like to do. This can lead you to re-direct your efforts in the future to lead to a better end result.
