Funding

For some international opportunities, your out-of-pocket expenses could include round-trip flights, health insurance, visa costs, or in-country living expenses.  For assistance with estimating living expenses and identifying funding sources, consult the “Resources” section.

Use resources, such as Numbeo, to calculate the cost of living for cities and countries worldwide.Once you have identified the amount of money you need, you can search for funding sources through the Career Services’ Library Catalog by conducting keyword searches, such as “international fellowship, ” and by browsing the CCS Link Library under the headings “Financial Information/Scholarships” and “Grants and Fellowships.” Additional funding opportunities are listed in The Center for Engaged Learning and Research Funding Handbook, the Cornell Library Guide: Grants & Fellowships in the Humanities and Social Sciences, and on the Einaudi Center webpage.

You can also search for funding resources through The Foundation Directory: click on “Search Grantmakers” and type in “internship” in the “Types of Support” box. A searchable database of international fellowships, grants, and paid internships is also available through the Institute of International Education (IIE) Study Abroad Funding.
