When applying for international jobs, your U.S. resume and cover letter may need significant revision, as job application materials vary widely from country to country. To learn more about the process of applying for a job in a specific country, we recommend conducting informational interviews with Cornell alumni, individuals at Cornell who have significant experience working in that country, or other individuals you may know who are living abroad. Identify Cornellians who are living abroad by logging into LinkedIn, clicking on the “Find Alumni” search feature, and typing in the country or city in the “Where They Live” search box.
Country-specific advice can be found through resources such as the Career Services’ Library Catalog, which has books such as the Global Resume and CV Guide and Best Resumes and CVs for International Jobs.Additionally, the EuroGraduate Live website provides tips for European applications, and the Resources for Global Resume and CVs provides links to articles, blogs, templates, and books for international job applications. Links to these resources can be found on the "Resources" webpage.
